Our network publishes local guides for 11 cities in Iowa, from Des Moines down to the smaller markets, and connects each call with an independent technician working in that area. Coverage is not limited to the cities listed — if your town is not among them, call anyway. We do not employ these technicians and we do not perform repairs ourselves. We route your job to a licensed local business, they quote you a flat price before starting, and you pay them directly. If a job is not done right, tell us and we will send another partner at no extra cost to you.
Iowa's water is hard across nearly the whole state, and in rural counties on private wells it can be harder still, often with iron and sediment alongside the calcium. In a top-load washer the calcium restricts the inlet valve screens and lengthens the fill, while the iron does the more visible damage — staining a porcelain-on-steel tub in a way that no amount of cleaning reverses, and rusting it through at the lip once the coating chips. Sediment from a well is hard on the valve itself. Iowa winters add the usual risk to any machine in an unheated garage, porch or basement corner, where a supply hose can split and a cold motor coupler works harder than it should.
